Our team at Dr. Berdy's office consists of warm, caring and friendly people that are ready to help you obtain your dental health needs. Our highly trained staff will be here with answers to all your questions. We take whatever time is necessary to listen to your concerns and understand your needs. That is the primary purpose of your first visit with Dr. Berdy. Many of our patients comment that they have never felt so understood or had such a comprehensive exam as we routinely perform. We will design, together with you, the perfect plan for your dental health.

Dental Hygienist

Why did you choose your profession?
My hometown dentist got me interested in the dental field. I was going to college and wasn’t sure of my destination. When it was time to make a decision about my future, I called up Dr. Steve Beckett (a father figure) and we had a long talk. He knew what I wanted out of a profession and a dental hygiene career fit my schedule perfectly. I’ve been extremely happy with my decision and very proud to be a team member of Dr. Berdy’s office.
What are your hobbies and interests?
My kids keep me very busy with all their activities, however I do plan time for running and various other activities. The beach is always a mental break and gives me peace!
Barbara
Business Assistant

Why did you choose your profession?
I saw an advertisement on public TV for a dental assistant and I bid on it. I won and went to dental assistant school. After graduation I went to work for Dr. Frank Scott and Dr. Walter Watson. Dr. Berdy came into the practice in 1975. I worked in the back assisting for 26 years, and I have been working at the front desk now since 1996. I love my job. Dr. Berdy is the “Best Boss” in the world.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I have six grand children and I love to work in the yard. I also love reading and read at least one book a month but sometimes I read three. I also like to watch the History Channel and old movies. I like to travel and I try to take a big trip once a year.
Marsha
Registered Nurse/Surgical Assistant

Why did you choose your profession?
As a nurse, working in the hospital at night afforded me little time to be with my small girls. In the dental field the hours were more flexible and they were off on weekends. It has grown to be such a rewarding job giving one-on-one care to patients. There have been so many new and challenging aspects of periodontal therapy.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Cooking, Reading, Walking, Babysitting, and playing with my new granddaughter.
Julie
Dental Assistant

Why did you choose your profession?
I became interested in the field of dentistry when I first got braces. After 19 years I get satisfaction helping people take care of their teeth. It’s important to be sensitive when a patient is in pain. I also like my profession because of the continued experience and ongoing training I receive in state of the art dentistry.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Gardening is a great gift I enjoy. My favorite time to plant flowers is early Spring so I can enjoy all the new growth and pleasant scents. I also like to camp, hike, bike ride, travel, and cook.
Jenna
Dental Hygiene Assistant

Why did you choose your profession?
As I am in the process of getting into the dental hygiene program at FCCJ I thought that working in a dental office would give me great hands on experience. As far as going into the dental profession, I am just following in my mother’s footsteps.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love to go to the beach and to be out in the sun. I love to go to the lake and ride the jet skis and wake board. I like to go to the movies and I love to shop. Right now school is my biggest hobby and any spare time that I have I spend with my boyfriend and my friends.
Leslie
Dental Hygienist

Why did you choose your profession?
As a child, my older sister’s best friend was a dental hygienist for my family dentist. I used to sit with her in her operatory and watch her with her patients, and I admired her and her skills. I knew from the age of 10 that I wanted to help people with maintaining their oral care.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Scuba diving, boating, anything in the sun, exercise, attending my children’s baseball and softball games.
Mary
Appointment Secretary/Business Assistant

Why did you choose your profession?
It’s the profession I always wanted to be a part of. I got my first fob in the 10th grade as a dental assistant. I never thought about doing anything else. It makes me happy!!
What are your hobbies and interests?
Traveling, family and friends. Doing anything that is fun. Volunteering with senior citizens at care centers, etc.

Financial Coordinator

Why did you choose your profession?
I always had wanted to work in the medical or dental field for the challenge it gives in helping others to feel better about themselves and their appearance.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Enjoy reading, teaching 3-4 year olds in Sunday school, being active in my church, and traveling.
Glenda
Hygienist

Why did you choose your profession?
My dental hygienist was an inspiration to me years ago. She loved her work and helping people. I knew from talking to her, that hygiene was what I wanted to do. While going through dental hygiene school, perio was the specialty of my choice.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Tennis, sometimes golf and raising my granddaughter.
Rachel
Hygiene Assistant

Why did you choose your profession?
I chose this profession to further my knowledge of dentistry. I was starting the dental hygiene program at FCCJ and wanted all of the help I could get. I’m almost finished with school and being an assistant has truly helped me in my studies.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I mostly do homework and study, but in the 5 min of free time a week I enjoy playing the piano. I also enjoy being outside playing softball or going to the lake. I would have to say that most of all I love being at my church with my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Destiny
Hygiene Assistant

Why did you choose your profession?
I’d say my profession chose me, but I like it. All the doors “opened up” for me after high school so I “went in.”
What are your hobbies and interests?
Anything having to do with a good time. I like to write, read sing, act and I just took up belly dancing. I also like to crochet and draw. Anything artsy, I’m on it! Oh, & I absolutely love movies & theatre.
